FROM VALENCIA TO OLIVA

Are you ready for a magnificent ride in Spain full of history, sun and sea?

The Schunk Tour 2024 takes us from Valencia to Alicante, along the famous Costa Blanca. This stretch of coast is one of the most beautiful and best-loved in Spain thanks to its seaside resorts, such as Benidorm or Oliva, but also thanks to its hinterland of hills and sleepy villages surrounded by majestic nature. If you add to this the good food - we are in the home of paella! -the sun and the mild climate... that’s it!

Thursday, 6th june: arrival at Valencia

Prologue, friday 7th june: Valencia - Cullera

at 9:30AM start Prologo from the Hotel Port Azafata

The Mediterranean town of Cullera (municipality of 22,937 inhabitants) is located in the centre of the Valencian Coast, in a landscape embraced by sea and mountains. Around the Muntanya de l'Or and the mouth of the river Júcar, a summer resort has developed that combines a well-kept historic centre with the most modern facilities for recreation in the sun and on the beach.

Stage 1, saturday 8th june: Cullera - Alcoy

Alcoy is located in the province of Alicante, surrounded by mountains at the foot of the Serra de Mariola and furrowed by smaller rivers that join outside the urban centre to form a single river, the rio Serpis, also known as rio de Alcoy, which takes a winding path to the Mediterranean.

The Pont de Sant Jordi is considered the most popular image of the city and was built in the art deco style, of which it is one of the most impressive works in Spain. The design of the bridge dates back to 1876, but work did not materialise until the summer of 1923 and then began in 1925.

Stage 2, sunday 9th june: Alcoy - Alicante

Located in the heart of the Costa Blanca, Alicante is one of the most important tourist destinations of the Spanish Levante, a port city situated at the foot of the Santa Barbara Castle.

Alicante's strategic geographic position, in the heart of the Levantine coast, has favoured the settlement of the main Mediterranean civilisations for centuries. Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans and later Arabs came to these shores in search of new trade routes, contributing their culture to shape its character.

Stage 3, monday 10th june: Alicante - Benidorm

Located in the heart of the Marina Baixa area, in the province of Alicante, Benidorm is one of the Costa Blanca's main tourist destinations, thanks to its beautiful beaches and wide range of restaurants and leisure activities.

The historic centre, which stretches out on a promontory, creates a contrasting effect with the spacious boulevards lined with buildings, shops and open-air venues along five kilometres of coastline. The possibilities that Benidorm offers are countless: strolling along the promenade and realaxing at the beach.

Stage 4, tuesday 12th june: Benidorm - Oliva

Located on the border with the province of Alicante, Oliva is the second most important locality in La Safor.

It is home to almost 10 kilometres of beaches with clean sands and shallow waters, criss-crossed along almost their entire perimeter by dunes that separate the orange groves from the sea. The well-preserved town centre has two distinct areas: the Christian and the Moorish suburb. The Marjal Natural Park of Pego-Oliva, a marshy area with abundant fauna and native vegetation of great ecological value, deserves mention.
